The Lighthouse was built in 1877 and is still, to this day, shining it’s light bright and warm. It is possible to enter the tower during daylight hours - all year around. The lighthouse is 26 meters tall and at its location, you can catch the sunset up to three times in a night.
The lighthouse was automatized in 1995 and the last staff said their goodbyes in 2003.
The breakwaters also tell an exciting story. They mark the end of an era where the ocean ate heavily from the land. About the same time the lighthouse authority became an important weapon in the battle to prevent the large amount of ship wrecks.
Also the area’s churches and monuments tell stories and the stories of the artists at Bovbjerg in the first half of the 20th century is a chapter of its own.
