THE ONLY MUSEUM IN SCANDINAVIA FOCUSING ON ART AND RELIGION IS LOCATED IN LEMVIG..

You find the Museum of Religious Art near Lemvig harbour with a unique view of the city and fjord. This art museum owns a collection of art from the 20th and 21st centuries created in a religious context or with an existential point of departure., among other things; a rare collection of original works by the French expressionist Georges Rouault. Every year the museum puts on three exhibitions, which in different manners look into the relationship between art and religion. The exhibitions primarily focus on modern and contemporary art.

Café - Museum of Religious Art

The Café

From the café of the museum you can enjoy the beautiful view known to most of the Danish population because of the poet Thøger Larsen’s songs and because of the famous cartoons of Henning Gantriis “Livets gang i Lidenlund”. Cake and coffee are served in the café by the many voluntaries of the museum.

Public guided tours (in Danish)

Sundays at 14 o’clock except the opening Sunday of a new exhibition.
The tour is free of charge after having paid the entrance fee.
Conducted tours and specific events in the museum café can be arranged.
Outside the opening hours groups are admitted by special appointment, subject to a fee.
Educational visits for children and students can be arranged.
